Ahead of marking his half-decade plus one year in charge, Mikel Arteta has stated plainly that his future at Arsenal is inextricably linked to achieving success.

A Look Back: The Arteta Era

Arteta assumed control on the 20th of December in 2019 and soon guided the team to an FA Cup victory a short time later. Yet, that initial silverware is still his lone significant piece of silverware since succeeding Unai Emery.

“I can,” Arteta responded in response to a query about staying beyond 2027. “Yet it's about today. And numerous factors must occur in the next few months as well to deserve that opportunity.”

He will mark the landmark with a game facing Everton, the very same club Arsenal met just after his appointment was announced.

Present Challenges

For six years, I’ve seen just players with a standard of focus, hunger for knowledge and give their all to the team.”

Squad Setbacks

The squad approaches the upcoming game dealing with an additional absence. Defender Ben White has been declared unavailable with a muscle problem that is anticipated to see him miss action for several weeks.

Confidence in the Path

Even with the fitness woes and the immense scrutiny, Arteta feels the club's “focus and dialogue” are profoundly distinct from when he first arrived.

He pointed to the squad's displays as a sign they are nearing their goal. “Consider the performances, all the club records that were shattered... We still have yet to do that [win trophies]. But that shows the caliber we've reached.”
