The Two Fatalities Identified in Brown University Shooting as Authorities Press On With Search for Killer.

The pair of scholars who lost their lives in the recent violent attack at Brown University were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their shooter persisted following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the sole person of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also shared condolences on social media, saying in part: “It's indescribable. Thinking of her kin and peers, above all her mom and dad.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, from Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the Ivy League university, according to relatives.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He harbored grand aspirations of becoming a neurosurgeon and helping people,” his sibling Samira said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

Nine more persons were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Authorities said by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-man arrested in a raid at a hotel about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.

“A perpetrator remains free,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last 24 hours or so.”

Ongoing Concerns

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “This will probably generate fresh anxiety for our city”.

The assailant opened fire inside a classroom in the engineering facility on over the weekend, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm pistol, a police source reported to the Associated Press.

Officers that entered the inn seized two handguns and magazines when the individual was taken into custody, according to reports.

Those Hurt

Among those wounded, one student was discharged from care, mentioned the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in grave but unchanging health, and another was critically ill, officials reported on Sunday.
